MOTS-C (Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the 12S rRNA type-c) is an investigational synthetic 16-amino acid peptide derived from the mitochondrial genome. It is studied primarily as an injectable candidate. It is being researched for its potential roles in regulating metabolic homeostasis, improving insulin sensitivity, enhancing glucose and fat metabolism, promoting mitochondrial function, and acting as an exercise mimetic.
